Although Kelly D considers herself as someone who comes from nothing with no formal education, she was able to prove that she can execute one of the toughest challenges in the industry and win the much coveted Golden Stanley trophy.

She joined other professional dog groomers to see who could transform the style-challenged canines into the smartest pooches in the country despite never taking part in this type of competition before.

After eight weeks, the show that started with sixteen contestants whittled down to three fabulous finalists - Georgia from Llanelli, South Wales; Lakhi from Birmingham; and Kelly D from Somerset.

On Thursday, 4th March 2021, the final of Pooch Perfect was aired on BBC One at 8PM and Kelly Davis was crowned the winner of the competition.

The idea behind pooch perfect is to put 16 professional dog groomers from around the country to the test and find the top dog groomer to win the golden Stanley trophy.

Kelly is so passionate about her job as a dog groomer. Before being crowned the winner of Pooch Perfect she said: “Against all adversity, to be able to have recognition for the passion and drive I have dedicated to the industry would be the pinnacle of my career and life. Showing my story of coming from nothing with no formal education, to winning Pooch Perfect would mean the world.”

During the show, Kelly D was able to turn dogs into different animals despite not doing that before. She said: “The little ice cream that I did for the Asian freestyle was something I’d never done before. Oh, and my gorilla cut. We had to turn our dogs into a different animal and I decided to go for something that no one has ever done before.”

“Being able to bring my skills to a high profile TV show, and being watched by so many people, was something I never thought would be possible.”

Kelly D hopes young people will be inspired by her story and begin dreaming big while also proving that they can achieve their dreams.

“I would love to inspire youngsters to dream big, and prove they can achieve them!”

Although the idea behind pooch perfect is to put 16 professional dog groomers from around the country to the test and find the top dog groomer to win the golden Stanley trophy, the show has come under huge criticism. People are worried that Pooch Perfect can set bad example for pet owners with no experience in dog grooming but, the BBC has defended the show by saying that grooming is a healthy and necessary part of responsible dog ownership particularly with certain breeds.

This event illustrates a central fact: the dangers of vaccine-preventable diseases are quantifiably greater than the known risks associated with vaccination. This article will address concerns about vaccine safety by examining the precise nature of both vaccine risks and disease threats, using verifiable data to support informed decision-making for your dog's health. The Biological Impossibility of Canine Autism The claim that vaccines cause autism in dogs is not supported by veterinary science due to fundamental biological reasons. 5 Must-Ask Questions Before You Leave Your Dog at the Groomer

A 2022 study in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior noted that over 50% of dogs show signs of stress during grooming. While severe physical injuries are less common, a single preventable incident is one too many. Cases like those in Louisiana, where dogs received ocular chemical burns from misused shampoo at a licensed facility, demonstrate that a groomer’s marketing claims are not a guarantee of safety. Your dog’s well-being depends on the protocols you cannot see. The only way to evaluate them is to ask direct, specific questions. The goal is not to create conflict, but to identify competence and build trust based on transparent practices. 1. “What is your exact step-by-step protocol for protecting my dog’s eyes during the bath?” The difference between a safe groom and a dangerous one lies in the specifics of execution. Indicator of a Professional “Before the bath, we apply a sterile, vet-approved ophthalmic ointment to lubricate the eyes and create a barrier against shampoo. We av...

“I would have lived in a tent before I surrendered my dog ,” says Valerie Ducharme, a renter who faced the Yukon's housing crisis with her Australian shepherd. Her sentiment is common. According to a 2023 Canadian Rental Housing Index report , nearly 40% of rental households include pets, yet a systematic analysis of listings in major Canadian markets shows that less than 30% explicitly welcome them. This gap creates a logistical and emotional crisis for responsible pet owners . This guide provides a concrete strategy based on documented landlord concerns and successful tenant approaches. It replaces hope with a structured plan. 1. Reframe the Conversation from Problem to Solution Landlords decline pets based on rational risk assessment.
