A fisherman at Taylorsville Lake just made the catch of a lifetime; a monster blue catfish weighing 60 pounds and stretching 50 inches long!
Robert Mason Dixon couldn’t believe his luck when he hauled in the massive fish. After snapping a few jaw-dropping photos, he made a surprising decision: he released it back into the water!
“What a monster!” Dixon said, still in awe of his record-worthy catch.
How Big Do Blue Catfish Get?
While Dixon’s catch was huge, it wasn’t a state record. That title belongs to a 106.9-pound behemoth pulled from the Ohio River in 201 by Glynn Grogan.
These freshwater giants can grow up to 5.5 feet long and weigh over 150 pounds, but most range between 20-50 inches.
