Nancy Mace Carries her Dog to House of Representatives Chamber amid Speaker Chaos

A House of Representatives member from South Carolina was seen carrying her dog, Libby, to the Chamber as the vote to choose the next speaker dragged on for the third day.

Nancy Mace Carries Her Dog To House of Representatives Chamber Amid Speaker Chaos

Nancy Mace who looked unfazed as she casted her vote to adjourn in the house Chamber during the third day of elections told reporters, “there are no rules right now” when asked if dogs were allowed on the house floor.

Although she looked undisturbed, she has posted a short video of her dog running frantically around her office. The Congresswoman titled the clip “Day 3 vibes” and wrote: “The feeling is mutual, Libby. #RunningToTheFloor.”

On Thursday, Kevin McCarthy, 57, continued to suffer a string of humiliating defeats in multiple rounds of voting and the House adjourned for the third day without electing a new speaker.

The contest has now become the longest speaker contest in 164 years.

Amid the chaos and confusion, he told reporters that “if this takes a little longer and it doesn’t meet your deadline that’s okay. Because it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.” He added: “If we finish well, we’ll be very successful.”

Meanwhile, Ms Mace was seen holding her dog on the House floor as heated discussions took place.

The South Carolina lawmaker has supported Mr McCarthy and had expressed frustration with House Freedom Caucus members leading the opposition.

“When asked point-blank what more they wanted, the House Freedom Caucus could not say what more they wanted. They are holding our agenda hostage,” she earlier said.

Ms Mace had also branded fellow Republican Matt Gaetz a “political D-Lister” and tweeted on Tuesday: “[Matt Gaetz’s] full ego was on display today. He’s going to screw around and get another [Rep Nancy] Pelosi elected Speaker. I’ll have a lot more to say about this political D-Lister tomorrow.”

Mr McCarthy has remained adamant that he would emerge as a victor once the process gets concluded. But even Republicans aligned with leadership are beginning to acknowledge the scope of their party’s disarray calling the process “messy” as it transpired.

“It’s a feature, not a bug,” Rep Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin argued in his speech nominating his ally, Mr McCarthy, for the fourth time.

Mr McCarthy has been backed by former president, Donald Trump.

The Best Fish Feed in Nigeria for Catfish: Why Quality Matters

A few months ago, I visited a fish farm run by an ambitious aquapreneur who had high hopes for his homemade fish feed. His pond was large, his vision clear: this feed would cut costs, boost growth, and drive profitability.  But within a week, disaster struck. Fish floated belly-up. Growth stalled. The numbers didn’t add up.   The problem wasn’t the fish. It was the feed.   The catfish were growing exactly as they were fed: poorly. Just as fish can’t flourish on empty calories, a farm can’t succeed on subpar feed. The right nutrition makes the difference between a thriving business and a sinking investment.   In Nigeria’s competitive catfish farming industry, choosing the best feed isn’t just about cost, it’s about protein content, digestibility, floatability, and growth performance. The wrong feed leads to stunted growth, higher mortality, and lost profits. The right one maximizes yield, health, and market value.  In this article, we’ll explore:...

How Much Does It Really Cost to Start a Catfish Farm in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt in 2025?

After the Nigerian government hinted at a possible ban on fish importation , my inbox began to fill with a familiar question from would-be fish farmers in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt: “Can I start a catfish farm now and do it for less?” It’s a timely concern. With import restrictions looming and demand for locally raised fish climbing, 2025 could be a turning point for Nigeria’s aquaculture industry. But while the opportunity is real, the path to profitability depends on where you set up, how lean your operations are, and whether you can balance cost-cutting with quality production. A Market on the Edge of Change Nigeria needs an estimated 3.2 million metric tonnes of fish annually. Yet local production meets barely 30% of that demand. The rest comes from imports mainly mackerel, sardines, and tilapia; worth over ₦500 billion annually. A potential import ban would create an immediate supply gap, and catfish is perfectly positioned to fill it. Already a staple in Nigerian homes and...
