Since you're currently reading words online, chances are you're already aware that Emiliano Martinez recently bought a dog.
Martinez who was a key part of Argentina’s World Cup success sought to protect his medal by buying a guard dog.
Now, if you're the type of person who see giant guard dog and thinks, “hey, that must be expensive ”, you're right. The Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper splashed a whopping £20,000 on the guard dog and has had the fearsome-looking canine specially trained
According to Daily Star, Martinez’s guard dog is actually a Belgian Malinois, a breed that has been used by the SAS and US Navy Seals in combat zones. This makes the breed super valuable.
Handlers say they are strong, fast, fierce and loyal. The dog will protect the Premier League goalie's luxurious family home in the West Midlands. Martinez, who has a wife Amanda and a son and daughter called Santi and Ava, got the Belgian Malinois from Elite Protection Dogs.
A spokesperson for Elite Protection Dogs said: “Belgian Malinois are working dogs chosen by military and police as No.1 around the world”.
“American Navy Seals used Malinois in the operation to capture Bin Laden. The breed is super athletic and agile with extreme prey drive that makes them excellent candidates for any tasks in work. There are dogs and there are Malinois.”
Martinez who managed to save Kingsley Coman's spot kick in the final shootout victory over France, divided fans on social media by holding a baby doll with Mbappe's face on it during Argentina's parade.
Martinez also made an obscene gesture after being awarded the Golden Glove for the tournament’s best keeper, which led to further criticisms of his actions.
