Groomer Fights Back When Dog Owner Fumes At Pet's ‘Pennywise the Clown’ Haircut

Reddit users have defended a groomer after an owner complained that his pooch was left looking like “Pennywise the Clown” after having its haircut.

Groomer Fights Back When Dog Owner Fumes At Pet's ‘Pennywise the Clown’ Haircut

The dog owner is said to have taken to the social media platform to share his frustration about how his doodle, a cross between a poodle and another dog, came back from the groomers looking like Stephen King's IT after it was shaven down to the skin due to extreme matting.

Sharing a picture to Reddit, the man wrote: “I feel like my dog looks way too cute. Barber replied: I got chu fam'.”

However, the man didn't get the reaction he was expecting as users came to the groomer's defence, stating the owner brought in on themselves by failing to brush their dog.

Social media users defended dog groomer

One user said: “Although this poor dog looks like Pennywise, what people have been saying about brushing them is so important.”

“I just got a doodle and have been researching them. This is something I knew going in but I imagine it came as a shock to some owners who got a doodle when they 'came into fashion' a few years back.”

Another user added: “Dog groomer's spouse here. I hear horror stories about doodles at least twice a day.”

“Apparently about one out of every five to 10 are so matted underneath the top coat that they need to be shaved down.”

“My wife gets cussed out almost every time this happens, even though they tell owners (and even send out letters) about regularly brushing their doodle.”

A third user said: “I have a doodle. He needs to be brushed every day or even my fingers run through his matting spots (back legs, underarms) otherwise it is a nightmare.”

“It breaks my heart when I see people who very clearly don’t brush their doodles. It’s very easy to tell matted fur from curly fur.”

However, another questioned: “Dog groomer here. Even if the dog was that matted... Why leave the ears? That looks ridiculous! At least make it more proportionate.”

It comes after another dog owner “almost peed herself” when she collected her pooch from the groomer to discover she had been given a “can I speak to your manager” haircut.

Describing her dog's personality, the owner said: “Her favourite toy is a lamb chop squeaky toy. Her best friend is Frida (our Rottweiler).”

“She loves cuddling as she's only seven pounds, and she loves when kids come over because they always drop food and she definitely loves anything cheesy.”

“Also she will definitely be asking for your manager.”

How Much Does It Really Cost to Start a Catfish Farm in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt in 2025?

After the Nigerian government hinted at a possible ban on fish importation , my inbox began to fill with a familiar question from would-be fish farmers in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt: “Can I start a catfish farm now and do it for less?” It’s a timely concern. With import restrictions looming and demand for locally raised fish climbing, 2025 could be a turning point for Nigeria’s aquaculture industry. But while the opportunity is real, the path to profitability depends on where you set up, how lean your operations are, and whether you can balance cost-cutting with quality production. A Market on the Edge of Change Nigeria needs an estimated 3.2 million metric tonnes of fish annually. Yet local production meets barely 30% of that demand. The rest comes from imports mainly mackerel, sardines, and tilapia; worth over ₦500 billion annually. A potential import ban would create an immediate supply gap, and catfish is perfectly positioned to fill it. Already a staple in Nigerian homes and...

The Best Fish Feed in Nigeria for Catfish: Why Quality Matters

A few months ago, I visited a fish farm run by an ambitious aquapreneur who had high hopes for his homemade fish feed. His pond was large, his vision clear: this feed would cut costs, boost growth, and drive profitability.  But within a week, disaster struck. Fish floated belly-up. Growth stalled. The numbers didn’t add up.   The problem wasn’t the fish. It was the feed.   The catfish were growing exactly as they were fed: poorly. Just as fish can’t flourish on empty calories, a farm can’t succeed on subpar feed. The right nutrition makes the difference between a thriving business and a sinking investment.   In Nigeria’s competitive catfish farming industry, choosing the best feed isn’t just about cost, it’s about protein content, digestibility, floatability, and growth performance. The wrong feed leads to stunted growth, higher mortality, and lost profits. The right one maximizes yield, health, and market value.  In this article, we’ll explore:...
