A leading writer and journalist, Terry Kay has died at the age of 82.
Terry Kay who came to prominence after the launch of his novel, To Dance With The White Dog died from liver cancer.
His death was announced on his Facebook page and has been confirmed by Heather Kay flurry, the author's daughter.
He was born in Hart County, Georgia in 1938.
To Dance With The White Dog was inspired by Kay's parents and it is a story of an octogenarian and a mysterious white dog that comes to live with him following his wife’s death.
The book was an instant success that earned Kay the Outstanding Author of the Year award in 1991 from the Southeastern Library Association and also won him fans, home and abroad.
Our thoughts and prayers go to his family of whom we're sure will always be proud of him.
